Join us for this Living History Saturday to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary! Experience how Independence Day was celebrated in the Carolina Piedmont during the 1850s. There will be 19th-century refreshments and “libations” (drinks), 19th-century toys and games, and writing with quill pens all day!

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Timed Activities:
• Hot air balloon launches (11 a.m. & 2 p.m.)
• “Patriotic Musings” presentation at the Oak Grove Stage, featuring guest-led toasts and readings from some of our nation’s founding documents (Noon & 3 p.m.)
You can bring your own family-friendly libation for the toasts, or pick one up in the Gift Shop! (Eggnog was a popular Independence Day drink in the 19th century! Try this family-friendly recipe at home: https://www.aheadofthyme.com/non-alcoholic-homemade-eggnog/)
