McDowell Nature Center

McDowell Nature Center serves as the gateway to 1,132 acres of McDowell Nature Preserve, that protects mostly forested, rolling terrain along the banks of Lake Wylie. The Nature Center provides many educational programs on our natural ecology, and features live native animals, a discovery hall, and a gift shop. Visitors can stop and observe nature in action, enjoy a natural play area, and take self-guided tours for miles of hiking trails.

Since 2001, Whitewater has been creating opportunities to bring people together outdoors at the U.S. National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Whitewater Center is designed and operated as an outdoor center offering over 30 different recreational activities. Every element and activity is focused on supporting an all-encompassing experience around the outdoor lifestyle. Additionally, the Whitewater Center hosts international competitions in a variety of sports along with numerous festivals and events on a recurring basis.

Stevens Creek Nature Preserve and Center

We are a Nature Preserve and Nature Center. We offer many different programs for Kids and Adults some are Free and some do have a Fee. Come explore Stevens Creek Nature Center where learning about Nature is fun for the whole family. The Nature Center is open Monday-Saturday 9:00am to 5:00pm and the Preserve is open from 6:30am to sunset.
