Let's Get Graphic: A Discussion on Black Representation in Graphic Novels & Comic Books - North County Regional Library
Join us at the Steele Creek Library the first Tuesday of every month for Teen Art Club! Learn new art techniques and create your own masterpiece while spending time with friends. In February, we will be creating an abstract art piece based on the unique art style of Basquiat in celebration of Black History Month. This program is recommended for teens ages 11-18. No registration is required. Space is limited.
We will discuss the contributions and significance of Black characters in graphic novels, comic books, and other related mediums. We will also highlight the diverse narratives, creators, and artistic styles that reflect the experiences, culture, and struggles of the Black communities, that showcase Black characters in a variety of roles from superheroes to everyday people. Examining how these portrayals contribute to the broader understanding of Black identity and culture.
