On March 31, 1973, Carowinds officially opened to 6,000 guests amid great fanfare. It was then and still is the only amusement park that spans two states, North Carolina and South Carolina. Since opening the gate, we have entertained millions of guests, helping them create cherished memories to last a lifetime.
Five decades later, guests can experience what’s new at Carowinds with a special nod to the past. At our celebration’s center is the all-new Aeronautica Landing, a tribute to the Carolinas’ spirit of invention, exploration, and aviation. Guests can also enjoy one-of-a-kind live shows, specialty food and drinks, and commemorative merchandise.
Whether you have been a Carowinds fan your whole life or you are experiencing our park for the first time, ‘50 Years of Carolina Fun’ is a must-see for 2023.
